i was born in 1954 in brooklyn ny,raised in bedford-stuyvesant.i so miss my neighborhood of fulton street.my good childhood memories are of attending p.s.93 on ny ave in 1959. i had fun there.i entered kindergarten there and my teacher was mrs herko. i loved her.she was so nice and taught us alot. i remember where we had to wear a handkerchief pinned to our dresses.to make a long story short,p.s.93 was my fantasyland.i had some bad experiences with some teachers, but the good teachers outweigh the bad ones.especialy mrs shagan, mrs coppolino.i loved mr leibowitz our music teacher, and i loved the puppet shows, the G.O. buttons the plant and cake sales,i loved mr nitobi our science teacher,p.s.93 was my sanctuary at that time.but i miss our neighborhood candy stores, especially mr smith’s on kingston ave where my cousins and my sister would go to buy the goodies to come home and watch,CHILLER THEATER,AND THE WIZARD OF OZ.WOW I MISS THOSE DAYS.
ALSO I REMEMBER THE ASSEMBLIES, WHERE WE HAD TO WEAR WHITE BLOUSES,BLUE SKIRTS,AND RED SCARVES AROUND OUR NECKS FOR THE GIRLS,AND RED TIES FOR THE BOYS,AND BLUE PANTS.
MY FATHER WAS THE OWNER OF THE ATLANTIC PORK STORE ON ATLANTIC AVE IN EAST NEW YORK FROM THE 1950′S TO THE 1980′S HAVE MANY GREAT MEMORIES AND EVEN SOME PICTURES OF THE STORE WHEN PORK CHOPS WERE $.49 CENTS A LB.
